Wedding RSVP: 5 mistakes to avoid
Deadlines too tight, confusing forms, forgetting plus-ones. Here are the five traps that turn RSVP collection into a nightmare.
Collecting RSVPs sounds simple. In practice, it is the first real organizational test for couples. Here are the five mistakes we see most often, and how to work around them.
1. Asking too late. A save-the-date six weeks before the wedding leaves no time for guests who need to book flights. The healthy rule: invitation J-60, RSVP expected by J-30.
2. A form that asks everything at once. Attendance, dietary preferences, plus-ones, travel, lodging. Split it up: ask attendance first, then layer the rest into separate journeys that open at J-45.
3. Forgetting plus-ones. Guests never know whether their partner, child or date are included. State it clearly on the invitation, and let the guest add their companion in the form.
4. No automatic reminder. At J-30, a quarter of your guests have not replied. Without reminders, you will call each one by hand. An automatic email reminder changes everything.
5. No clear counter view. When you know who is coming, you also know who is pending. A clear view of attendees, refusals and no-replies stops you from chasing people who already confirmed.
